Bob Fortune is a singer/songwriter and guitarist. He was brought up in Cleveland and is now a leading writer of songs about the area.
He says he is a bit of a maverick, and, among other things, he has worked with fishing boats and tugs, had his own transport business sending trucks to and from the Continent, owned a motorcycle shop, and worked for six years in Africa.
The fishermen and boats he knew in his youth (and later, when he had his own cobble) provide a rich source of inspiration for his work. But everything about the East Cleveland Area, its history, its industry, its landscape, and its people is reflected in his impressive collection of songs.
His first CD, Farewell Coast of Cleveland, was very well received, and it has now been followed by The Cleveland Way.
As well as solo work, Bob has the Bob Fortune Band — a group of local musicians. He has also set up a small recording label: Bob Song Music.
